Melancholia

I have recently been been accused of suffering from melancholia. (According to one West Texas reader and my teeny tiny almost 80 years old mother!) Perhaps. Melancholia does not have to be sad or gloomy, it can also be defined as pensive reflection or contemplation. I revel in reflection, perhaps to my detriment. I contemplate my cases and my life endlessly daily. Obsessively.
But I also love my profession. I love my family. I love the life I have built and am continuing to build. And the profundity of the young, British, banjo-playing alternative group Mumford & Sons gave me solace today for my alleged melancholic ways:
In these bodies we will live, in these bodies we will die
Where you invest your love, you invest your life.
(Awake My Soul by Mumford & Sons)
I am satisfied with my investments, personally and professionally. They have been thoughtfully made. And the returns have been immeasurable.
